Its been over a week since I last posted any news on Physworks, so now is as good a time as any.
Currently, I’m in the process of converting all of the game’s user interface over to the new UI system I’ve spent the last 2 weeks developing, along with an editor for it (shown below).
Its a little crude at the moment but works for what I need. This means I can create and edit UI layouts for Physworks (and probably later projects) much faster than the the old method I used, which was to basically tell the game where to draw the bits and pieces of the UI directly in the game code – not so fun to make or to fix bugs in, and very time consuming.
Right now, about half of the total game interface is converted to the new system. After that I’ll move on to converting sandbox mode into a full level editor and add the ability to upload/download custom made levels. Note: all of your sandbox levels will load into the new editor just fine 🙂
ETA for 1.3 is about 2 weeks, but it could overshoot a little, we’ll see.
